No one knows the silent heartaches, Only those who have lost can tell, Of grief that's borne in silence, For the one we loved so well. His pleasant ways and smiling face, Are a pleasure to recall; He had a kindly word for each, And died beloved by all. We saw him fadeing like a flower, But could not make him stay; We nursed him with tender care, But still he was called away. Oh, father, how we loved you; Our hearts ache for you still; Forgotten by some others, But by us you never will. Sadly missed by wife, daughters and son, and also by five grandchildren. By Mrs. J. W. Johnson, Jr. (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA. Thursday, March 17, 1938) Additional Comments: Son of George Melton and Catherine Elizabeth Peek Smith of Bluffton, AL.
