Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 30, 2004, 2:11 pm (The Cedartown Standard, March 09, 2004) Thomas J. Argo, 77, of 321 Sherwood Morgan Dr., Rockmart, passed away Tuesday, March 2 , 2004. He was born Dec. 2, 1926 in Carroll County, son of the late Charlie Gordon Argo and Gladys Reynolds Argo. He served as a Baptist pastor for over 45 years, serving as pastor of Holly Springs Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church in Temple, where he was presently a member. He also served as associate pastor and adult Sunday School teacher at the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Argo was retired from Ford Motor Company with 32 years of service and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Hobbs Argo and one sister, Geraldine Paschal. Surviving are two sons, Charles Argo and Thomas Keith Argo, both of Rockmart; one sister, Elsie Ferguson of Rockmart; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 4 at 2 p.m. from the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were: Steve Ferguson, Eddie Dutton, Brent Argo, Clyde Argo, Chris Cole and B.L. Abernathy. Honorary pallbearers were: Mel Roper, Greg Hughes, Paul Chaffin, Robert Stephenson and deacons of the Piedmont Avenue Baptist Church. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
