Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 30, 2004, 2:23 pm (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., September 03, 2003) Edith Woodward Barrett, 86, of 4296 Huntington Circle, Atlanta, and formerly of Calhoun passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 in Snellville. She was born July 19, 1917 in Polk County and had lived the greater part of her life in Calhoun and Atlanta. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dunwoody Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Caldwell Barrett; her parents, David King Woodward and Beulah Hackney Woodward; brother, Thomas Jefferson Woodward; sisters Nell Brophy and Irene Shedd. Survivors include daughter, Janis Keddie of Brookfield, Wisconsin; sons, Virgil C. “Buddy” Barrett of Talking Rock, Ga., Van Barrett of Gulf Shores, Ala., Don Barrett of Lawrenceville and Randy Barrett of Great Falls, Mont.; brother, Fred Woodward of Cedartown; sisters, Jessie Gammage of Columbus and Mary Jo Smith of Bartow, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 27 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Larry Van Barrett and other family members conducting the services. Interment followed in the Fain Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. The Thomas Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
