Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 30, 2004, 2:28 pm (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, March 13, 2003) Linda Battle, 64, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., passed away Monday, March 3, 2003. She was a native of Cedartown. She worked 44 years in histology/pathology and trained in Atlanta with Emory University and Crawford W. Long Hospital and was employed with Piedmont Hospital. She moved from Atlanta to Rome in 1965 and worked at Floyd Medical Center for 30 years as histology manager and histology training manager. She moved to Port St. Lucie in 1995 where she was histology supervisor at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Ft. Pierce, Fla., for 7 years until her death. She was also a member of the Georgia Society of Histology, Florida Society of Histology, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She volunteered with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office and later with the Port St. Lucie Police Department, Marine Patrol Division. She is survived by husband Major Ray Battle and one son, Hugh Battle. Friends may contact the Battles at 722-879-1038 or SE Faith Terrace, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983.
