Mary Holland Carden, age 83 of 445 Third Street, Shannon, and a former resident 
of Rockmart, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2003. Carden was born September 20, 
1919 in Paulding County and was the daughter of the late Helen Moore Holland 
and the late Homer Henry Holland. She was a homemaker and was a member of the 
Shannon United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. 
William Euell Carden, and an infant son, Larry Joseph Carden. Survivors include 
four daughters, Lynn Williams, Canton, Diann Estes, Shannon, Ms. Helen 
Driggers, Shannon, and Melba Johnson, Fort Walton Beach, Florida; two sisters, 
Maggie Pulliam, Rockmart, and Thelma Boone, Charleston, South Carolina; eleven 
grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Graveside services were held Friday, 
March 21, in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Jenkins 
officiating. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law served as the pallbearers. The 
Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. (Cedartown
