Stephens wend@bellsouth.net April 19, 2004, 12:20 pm (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, April 1, 2004) James Charles “J.C.” Chandler, 67, of 1615 Bethlehem Road, Rockmart passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004 in an out of town hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1937 in Haralson County. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had retired from Goodyear. He was preceded in death by his father, William Romie Chandler, and mother, Maggie Addison Chandler; sister, Frances McCoy; daughters, Aletha Gwen Norton and Mary Rolanda Chandler; and son, Gregory Harold Norton. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Farmer Chandler; daughter, Kimberly Ann Chandler Hayth; son, Philip Edward Norton; brothers, Carl Chandler of Cedartown and William Chandler of Buchanan; sisters, Ruth Henderson of Port St. Joe, Fla. and Cecile Beasley of Silacauga, Ala.; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. R.B. Hulsey officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites being conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post #86. The Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
