Clarence Wallace Becknell, 77, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997 following a 
sudden illness. Mr. Becknell was born July 14, 1920. He was a member of East 
Rome Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War 
II, and a former employee of Lindale Mills. He was preceded in death by his 
wife, Mary Evelyn Case Becknell. Survivors include: son, Randy Becknell of 
Rockmart; three brothers, Hubert Cline, Gene Cline, and Artie Cline, all of 
Rome; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services 
were held Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of the Daniel,s Funeral 
Home, with the Rev. Glen Boatner and the Rev. Jerry Nelson officiating. 
Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens. The Daniel,s Funeral Home, Rome, had 
charge of the arrangements. This local announcement was furnished for the 
family by the Gammage Funeral Home
