Stephens wend@bellsouth.net April 20, 2004, 11:38 am Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, 1987 Mr. Earnest Smith, 75, of 206 Jackson Street, Cedartown, passed away Monday, August 3, 1987 in an out of town hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born May 28, 1912, in Paulding County. He was a retired textile employee and a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Rosie Jarrell Smith of Cedartown, three sisters; Mrs. Louise Walker of Powder Springs, Mrs. Ethel Rainey of Cedartown and Mrs. Della Jo Turner of Summerville; three brothers; Leon Smith of Clarksdale, D. L. Smith of Dallas, and J. L. Smith of Mableton. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Rosser officiating. Interment was in Polk Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by Brewster Cleveland Post No. 86, Cedartown. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
