McCormick, one of Polk’s oldest and best citizens, passed away Tuesday morning at his home near Berry’s in the eighty-fourth year of his age. He was a brave Confederate soldier, and a respected and useful citizen. Funeral services were held yesterday at Shiloh, and were largely attended. The deceased was a brother of Polk’s clever Tax Receiver, Mr. M. E. McCormick.
