Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net October 12, 2006, 11:14 am Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., February 18, 2003 Ruth Bates Hagan, 72, of 106 Samanda Circle, Rockmart, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 in an Atlanta hospital. She was born April 7, 1930 in Gilmer County. She was a homemaker, owner and operator of Sugar and Spice, former Rockmart Aragon Hospital Medical Librarian and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Hagan and her parents, James Barney, Sr. and Essie Rogers Barney. Survivors include sons, Charles Hagan of Dallas and Richard B. Hagan of Winston; daughter, Leann H. Johnson of Rockmart; brother, J.B. Bates of Rossville; sister, Dorthy Roper of Cherry Log; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 9 at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Cleveland officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Christopher Hagan, Ryan Matthews, Steve Tinker, Larry Davis, Bryan Roper, Joey Rogers and John Thornton. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
