Harris, 80, of 150 Hillsdale Dr., Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004. Mrs. Harris was born on June 9, 1923 in Green County. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lena Compton Steele and Howard Steele, and her husband, Curtis C. Harris Sr. Survivors include: daughter, Diane Harris Holden, Titusville, Fla.; son, Curtis C. Harris Jr., Rockmart; sister, Connie Wood, Fayetteville; brothers, Ralph Steele and E.C. Steele, both of Stockbridge, and Gene Steele, Cedartown. Five grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Fennell and Rev. Keith Fennell officiating. Interment followed in the Yorkville Cemetery In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fayetteville First Baptist Church Building Fund, 205 Stonewall Ave., Fayetteville, Ga. 30215; the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Harris was born June 9, 1923 in Green County, daughter of the late Lena Compton Steele and the late Howard Steele. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church, Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by husband, Mr. Curtis C. Harris Sr. in August 1989. Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Diane Harris Holden, Titusville, Florida; son, Curtis C. Harris Jr., Rockmart; sister, Mrs. Connie Wood, Fayetteville; brothers, Gene Steele, Cedartown, Ralph Steele and E.C. Steele, both of Stock- bridge; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004 in the Freeman Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Andy Fennell and Rev. Keith Fennell officiating. Interment was in Yorkville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joel Hanson, Ron Brown, Greg Wood, Brian Holden, Michael Harris, Jason Harris and Greg Harris.
