Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net January 25, 2007, 9:29 pm The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, July 15, 2003 Vonnie Ruth Brown Hendricks, 91, of 5490 Beaver Drive, Mableton and formerly of Cedartown passed away Monday, July 7, 2003 in a Cobb County hospital. She was born Oct. 1, 1911 in Bartow County, daughter of the late Robert Milton and Ara Lucinda Satcher Brown. She was a resident of Cedartown for 48 years, moving to Mableton in 1988 where she was a member of the South Cobb Church of Christ. While she lived in Cedartown, she was active in business and civic affairs, serving as a volunteer for the Polk County branch of the Georgia Heart Association. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Cedartown and the American Association of Retired Persons of Cedartown and Mableton. For 21 years, she was a buyer for the Ladies’ and Children’s Departments of the Belk Rhodes Store of Cedartown. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.W. “Wesley” Hendricks; son, Tommy; daughter, Jeanette Hatten; three sisters and six brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Lucinda Coalson of Mableton; sisters, Louise Plemmons of Lilburn and Ollie Mae Tucker of Ft. Payne, Ala; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 9 in the South Cobb Church of Christ at 2 p.m. with ministers Tommy Tidwell, Doug Sims and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Jeff and Tim Coalson, James Oldfield, Doug Pirtle, Larry King and Ronnie Dorsey. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Allen, Richard Holbrock, Clyde Carson, Grover Cole and Dorsey Prince. Donations may be made to “Truth for the World,” P.O. Box 5048, Duluth, Ga. 30096. The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
