She was born June 8, 1936 in Bennington, Vt. She was an active member of Bellview Baptist Church, a retired Euharlee Kindergarten teacher, and a former teacher at the Cedartown First Baptist Kindergarten. She was also president of the Women’s Auxiliary Polk County Gideon Camp. Survivors include: husband, Glenn Hightower, Cedartown; son, Lee Hightower, Cedartown; daughters, Glenda Flatley, North Dighton, Mass., and Linda Casey, Taylorsville; and sisters, Mrs. Evelyn McMillian, Cartersville, and Dorothy Mattison, Bennington, Vt. Six grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at Bellview Baptist Church, Friday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Homer Hulsey and Rev. George Bennet officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Cemetery. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Hightower was born June 8, 1936 in Bennington, Vermont, daughter of the late Rupert Montgomery and Ruth Harrington Montgomery. She was an active member of Bellview Baptist Church, a retired Euharlee Kindergarten teacher and a former teacher at the Cedartown First Baptist Kindergarten. She was also president of the Women’s Auxiliary Polk County Gideon Camp. Surviving are husband, Glenn Hightower, Cedartown; son, Lee Hightower, Cedartown; daughters, Glenda Flatley, North Dighton, Massachusetts and Linda Casey, Taylorsville; sisters, Mrs. Evelyn McMillian, Cartersville and Mrs. Dorothy Mattison, Bennington, Vermont; six grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 in Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Hulsey and Rev. George Bennett officiating. Interment was held in the Bellview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shawn Casey, Shaun Flatley, Robert Carpenter, Jeffery Mattison, Charles Rayburn and Kenneth Carter. The Deacons of Bellview Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.
