Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net October 13, 2006, 9:00 am Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., April 24, 2003 Horace Edward Jones, Sr., 82, of 104 Fifth Street, Rockmart, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003. He was born in Floyd County on Jan. 12, 1921 and was of the Baptist faith. He was an employee of the City of Rockmart for 17 years, serving with the Water Department. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his son, Horace Edward “Eddie” Jones, Jr. and his parents, Arthur and Ida Locklear Jones. Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Lee Jones; sister, Alma Maxwell of Alexander, AL; and one grandchild. Graveside services were held Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m. in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jim Reynolds officiating. The Rockmart American Legion Honor Guard provided military graveside rites. Pallbearers were Edward Williams, John Layfield, Jimmy Hughes, Jeff Ellis, Billy Austin and Noble Brumbelow. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
