Mr. Duane Lyle, 72, 110 Ivy Street, Rockmart, died Dec. 10, 2003. Mr. Lyle was 
born May 26, 1931 in Polk County, a son of the late James Cresful Lyle and 
Susie Pearl Drew Lyle. He Lyle returned to Rockmart 11 years ago from Cobb 
County where he had made his home for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 
1951 to 1953 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the 
Rockmart Church of Christ. He retired due to ill health from American General 
Life Insurance Company. He was preceded in death by parents; step father, 
Curtis Elrod; sister, Barbara Pace. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Shirley Woods 
Lyle, Rockmart to whom he was married on January 1, 1954; daughters, Mrs. Terri 
Jones and Mrs. Duanaree Johnson, both of Powder Springs; three grandchildren; 
three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The funeral service was 
conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral 
Home chapel with Ministers Alvis Miller, Mansell Carpenter and Craig Hallman 
officiating. Interment was held in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Colt 
Johnson, Patric Huston, Steve Jones, Jimmy Woods, Johnny Barnes and Jeff 
Barnes. The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. (The
