McClarty, 80, of 308 Spruce St., Cedartown, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2003. He was born Feb. 21,1923 in Haralson County. He was a member of Anna Kresge Methodist Church, and was a WWII veteran retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant. He was a mason and a Shriner, a member of the Cedartown Optimists Club, and a former Scoutmaster and organizer of Boy Scout Troop 40. He was preceded in death by his parents, William P. and Lonnie Liner McClarty, and 11 siblings. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Simmons McClarty; son, Sonny McClarty; daughter, Gina Barber; five grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 27, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. O.L. Stokes and Rev. Dick Austin officiating. Interment followed in Northview Cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted by the Caledonia Lodge and Military Rites conducted by the Brewster- Cleveland Post 86. Pallbearers were Sonny McClarty, Tim McClarty, Mike McClarty, Mitchell Worthington, Dennis Worthington, Morgan Worthington, Stevie Worthington, and Jody Barker. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Dickert, Bill Hamrick, Bob Gibson, Ron Ray, Larry Dooley, Herschel Wright, and all members of the Cedartown Optimist Club. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
