Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net February 2, 2007, 11:20 am The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, October 23, 2003 Howard Jefferson McWhorter, 83, of 7290 Lester Rd., Union City, passed away Oct. 18, 2003. He was born in Polk County and graduated from Cedartown High School. He was a disabled veteran of WWII serving in the Navy and a member of Aeronautical Machinists Lodge No. 709 of the I.A.M.A.W. Following the war he obtained his degree from Jacksonville State via the G.I. Bill. He worked with Lockheed and retired from them in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Della McWhorter; sister, Ruth Carter, and brother, Leslie McWhorter. Survivors include: sister-in-law Louise McWhorter; nieces Rebecca Duvall and Wanda Cagle, and a number of cousins in Cedartown and elsewhere. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Leslie officiating. Internment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery with Military honors conducted by the Brewster Cleveland Post #86. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
