The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, October 16, 2003
Grace Katherine Nelson Mowry passed away Friday, Oct. 10, in Cedartown. She was 
born in Mohall, ND, on Sept. 29, 1904, to Norwegian immigrants the late Nels P. 
Nelson and the late Ingeborg Berlotti Elven Nelson. She married the late Rev. 
George Lindley Mowry and they pastored Nazarene churches in North Dakota, 
Minnesota, Nebraska and Kansas. After 58 years of ministry, they retired to 
Austin, Tex. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four 
siblings. Survivors include three siblings, Dean Nelson and Marie Armstrong of 
Mohall, N.D., and Carmen Lacature of New Hope, Rhode Island; three children, 
James Mowry of Austin, Tex., Joanne Simmons of Cedartown, and George Mowry of 
Spokane, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services 
were held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 in the colonial chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral 
Home with Rev. Bob Ships officiating. Interment followed at Cook-Walden 
Memorial Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Murphy-
Harpst Children’s Centers, 740 Fletcher St., Cedartown, GA 30125. This 
announcement is made locally by the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of
