Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 25, 2004, 12:24 pm (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA. page 2, September 6, 1984) Mr. James Newton Williams, age 49, of 220 Greene St., Augusta, GA., passed away suddenly Sunday, September 2 in Augusta. He was born October 03, 1934, in Haralson County, son of the late Wesley W. Williams and Mattie Robinson Williams. He had spent the greater part of his life in the Polk County area. Mr. Williams was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Tammy Cheatwood, Mrs. Pam Campbell, and Mrs. Freda Carter, all of Cedartown; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Coats, Rockmart, Mrs. Bertha Mae Howse, West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. Pam Rodriguez, Lithia Springs, Mrs. Frances Stanley, Gainesville, GA., and Mrs. Zada Pyles, Augusta; one brother Mr. Richard C. Williams, Cedartown; five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 5 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bellview Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifford Chandler officiating, Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Chris Coats, Randy Coats, Bobby Coats, Bucky House, Dicky Stanley and Donnie Smith. The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home of Rockmart was in charge of the arrangements.
