Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 25, 2004, 12:33 pm (Cedartown Standard, September 9, 1975) Mr. Jerry Wayne McElwee, age 34, of Route 3, Cedartown, died Tuesday, September 2 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. McElwee was born November 21, 1940 in Floyd County, but had lived all of his life in Cedartown. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Sherry McElwee of Cedartown; two sons, Jerry Wayne McElwee, Jr. and Jason McElwee both of Cedartown; his mother Mrs. Viola McElwee of Cedartown; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Belle Smith of Cedartown; one sister, Mrs. Mary Frances Short of Wellton, Arizona; two brothers, Bobby Gene McElwee of Bentwater, England and Mr. Joseph Hart McElwee of Rome; one aunt, Mrs. Frances Farmer of Cedartown; two uncles, George W. Smith of Cedartown and William H. Smith of Phenix City, Ala.; a number of nieces and nephews Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday from the Calvary Assembly of God with the Rev. C. R. Martin and Rev. Fredrick Rowell officiating. Interment followed in the Jackson Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Udell Cooper, Bud Lanier, Ricky Ayers, Andy Meeker, Joe Burgess, and Wayne Fortune.
