Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 25, 2004, 12:35 pm (The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., September 21, 1967, page 10) Mr. Murdock Marvin Tanner, 59, of 715 Pace St., died in Tucker, Ga. Tuesday evening after an extended illness. Mr. Tanner was born, Aug. 21, 1908, in Clayton County, Ala., but had spent most of his life in Polk County. He was a Veteran of World War II. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. from the Second Baptist Church with the Rev. J. B. McAdams and Dr. W. R. Simmone officiating. Interment in Northview Cemetery. Surviving are his wife--the former Miss Edna Mae Holmes of Cedartown; three sons--Charles Tanner of Gastonia, N.C., Murdock Tanner, Jr. and Robert Ray Nash both of Cedartown; four daughters--Miss Tammie Tanner; Miss Norma Ann Nash, Miss Kathy Nash and Miss Janice Nash all of Cedartown; one brother--Sterling Tanner of Tallapoosa, Ga.; four sisters--Mrs. Sudie McElroy, Mrs. Fred Chandler and Miss Vergie Tanner all of Tallapoosa and Mrs. Melvie Lyle of Atlanta; four grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
