Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 25, 2004, 2:09 pm (Cedartown Standard, about June 1, 1998) Mrs. Katie Almeda Slaughter, age 91, of Spring Garden, Ala., died Wednesday, May 27, 1998 at a Gadsden, Ala. Hospital. Mrs. Slaughter was born in Polk County, but was a longtime resident of Piedmont, Ala. She was a member of the Pleasant Arbor Baptist Church in Piedmont, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Slaughter. Survivors include, five daughters, Helen Davis of Cedartown, Frances Humphrey of Anniston, Ala., Imogene Johnson of Hokes Bluff, Ala., Barbara Parrish of Ellisville, Ala., and Elizabeth Tierce of Spring Garden, Ala.; 21 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 30, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Ward officiating. Interment followed at the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers included Hollis Cherry, Alan Fleming, Rodney Pope, Steve Pope, Joe Bowman and Tim Studdard. Thompson Funeral Home of Piedmont, Ala. was in charge of the arrangements. (Cedartown Standard, about June 1, 1998) Mrs. Katie Almeda Slaughter, 91, of Spring Garden, passed away Wednesday, May 27, in McGuffey Health care Center in Gadsden. She was a native of Polk County., but had been a resident of Piedmont for most of her life and a member of Pleasant Arbor Baptist Church. Services were Saturday, May 30, at 2 p.m., in Thompson Funeral Home of Piedmont with the Rev. Lewis Ward officiating. Burial was in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Slaughter is survived by five daughters, Helen Davis of Cedartown, Ga., Frances Humphrey of Anniston, Imogene Johnson of Hokes Bluff, Barbara Parrish of Ellisville and Elizabeth Tierce of Spring Garden, 21 Grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
