.(Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, March 22, 1979)
Mr. Willie Frederick Slaughter, age 70, of 303 Edna St. passed away Thursday 
after a sudden illness.  He was born Dec. 06, 1909 in Etowah County Al. but 
lived in Cedartown most of his life.  He was a member of the Southside Baptist 
Church and was retired.  Survivors include his wife, Alice Young Slaughter, Rt. 
1, Cedartown; two sisters Mrs. Julie Gossett-Piedmont, Ala., Mrs. Effie Leak-
Atlanta; three grandchildren.      Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. from 
the Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Guy Smith and the Rev. Tubby Hogan 
officiating, Interment was in Northview Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Mr. Ed 
Jackson, Mr. Roland Jackson, Mr. John McElwee, Mr. Virgil Bentley, Mr. Hayward 
Chandler, Mr. Wesley Hudgins. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the
