Mr. Goss was born in Bluffton, Ala., August 5, 1896, son of the late Lon Goss and Easter Smith Goss and had been a Cherokee County, Ala. resident most of his life. He was a member of the Baptist church and of Shanklin Attaway Post No. 5 of the American Legion. He was a World War I veteran from the U.S. Army and was a retired farmer. Survivors include his widow the former Nellie Garrett; one son, Ellis Goss, Rome; three daughters, Mrs. Noma Lee Duncan, Gaylesville, Ala., Mrs. Annie Hardin, Cedar Bluff, Ala., and Mrs. Leon Simpson, Armuchee; one brother, Ira Goss, Anniston, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Owens, Blue Mt., Ala., and Mrs. Melba Turner, Anniston, Ala.; seven grandchildren and 12 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Harry Sutton officiating. Shanklin-Attaway Post No. 5 of the American Legion is in charge of full military rites and will serve as pallbearers.
