Stephens wend@bellsouth.net March 30, 2004, 7:46 pm (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., September 03, 2003) Viola Brown Holland, 83, of 2005 Hull Avenue, Rome passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 6, 1919 in Polk County. A retired Licensed Practical Nurse, she was employed at several nursing homes in Rome and Cedartown and at Floyd Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Holland, Sr.; parents, Grover C. and Lillie Haisten Brown; sister, Edna Adams; brothers, Bartley Brown, Howard Brown, Oliver Brown and Artie Brown; and grandson, Herschel Lee Glenn, II. Survivors include daughter, Rebecca McHenry of Kingston, Jamaica; sons, Herschel Lee Glenn of Rome, Robert Holland of Phenix City, Ala. and Steve Holland of Ft. Payne, Ala.; sister, Myrtice Brown Swafford of Cedartown; brothers, Henry Brown of Cedartown and Rev. Harvey Brown of Ft. Payne; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 29 at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Rev. Rayford Davenport and Rev. Donald Collum officiated. Interment followed in the family lot in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Ryan Peace, Matt Peace, Chip Peace, Jody Otting, Kyle Otting, John Edwards, Mark Holland and Joel Holland. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Franks and Devan Glenn. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
