October 14, 2003) Marvin Matthew Bentley, 86, of 5105 Steadman Rd, Buchanan, passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2003. He was born Jan. 24, 1917 in Haralson County and was a member of Lindsey Chapel Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army, and was also a member of the National Guard Armory. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Matthew and Addie Lucille Chandler Bentley; and wife, Margaret Elizabeth Farrister. Survivors include sons, Walter Bentley and Elmer Bentley; daughters, Velma Bass and Nancy Rowell; stepsons, Lewis Odom and Rudy Odom; stepdaughters, Linda Richards and Judy Brock; sister, Ruby Wilson; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Barry and Rev. Homer Hulsey officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Haralson County Veterans Association. Pallbearers were Daniel, LaCurtis, Joel, Kelvin, Samuel, and Kyle Bentley. Honorary pallbearers were Julie Bentley, Keith Richards, Joey Brock, Tim Odom, Doug Odom, Wayne Odom, Blake Odom, Clint Odom, Eric Smith, Marlin Muthuveeran, Brea Holcomb, Drake Holcomb, Larissa Kines and Jake Olvaney. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
