He was born in Polk County and was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 50 years, as the Clerk for the church for 55 years, and as Treasurer for 50 years. He served as Clerk for the Polk Baptist Association for 40 years. He was a member of the Caledonia Lodge #121 F & AM and a member of the LO 12 Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Curtis Brown and Mozelle Bailey Brown; brothers, Otis Brown, Calvin Brown, Sr. and Winfred Brown; sisters, Jennie Broan and Lillian Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Evans Brown of Cedartown; mother–in–law, Vonnie Evans; sons, Andy Brown of Cedartown, and Neal Brown of Ft. Oglethorpe; sister, Mildred Worsham of Cedartown; four grandchildren, one great – grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 30 at 2 p.m. in the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Neal Brown, Rev. J.C. Robinson, Dr. Rodger Whorton and Dr. James Guy officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Brown, Clayton Brown, Alex Brown, Nick Brown, Bryan Keeling and Calvin Brown, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Southside Baptist Church and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
