Stephens wend@bellsouth.net April 17, 2004, 2:53 pm (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., November 25, 2002) Darrell Evan Brown, 71, of 217 Wieuca Way, Cedartown, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002. He was born July 24, 1930 in Vale, Oregon. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantryman in 1949. During his 24 years of military service, he served in Korea, four tours in Germany, and one tour in Okinawa, Japan. He also served as a military advisor in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army in 1972, he worked in law enforcement for both the Oakwood Police Department and the Duluth Police Department. He served in the capacity of both officer and chief. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evan Andrew and Vera J. Morris Brown. Survivors include: wife, Mattie Pulliam Brown; sons, Danny Brown, Thomas Brown, and David Brown; daughter, Donna Marie Bean; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Valley Church of God with Rev. Jessie Cole and Rev. Leon Allan officiating. Interment followed in the Broadlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Buford. Full military honors were conducted by the Brewster Cleveland Post 86 of Cedartown. The Lester C.
