Annie Ruth Davis Burgess, 73, of 223 John Phillips Rd., Cedartown, passed away 
Saturday, May 10, 2003 after an extended illness. She was born Nov. 15, 1929 in 
Cedartown. She graduated from Cedartown High School in 1947 and was married to 
Frank Harold Burgess, Sr. on Nov. 14, 1948. A licensed cosmetologist since 
1958, she was a hairstylist for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her 
parents, John Horace Davis and Annie Mae Tillery Davis; sister, Nancy Davis; 
brothers, John Horace Davis, Jr., Wallace Vann Davis, James Witson Davis, 
Thomas William Davis, Sr. and Robert Lee Davis. Survivors include her husband, 
Frank Harold Burgess, Sr.; daughter, Deborah Ann Burgess Dingler; sons, Frank 
Harold Burgess, Jr., John Davis Burgess, Sr.; sister, Frances Davis Henson; 
sister-in-law, Elsie Imo Baldwin Davis; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. 
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 12 at 4 p.m. from the First Baptist 
Church of Cedartown with Rev. Wayne Benefield and Dr. David Taylor officiating. 
Interment followed in Northview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bradley Thomas 
Burgess, Steven Wayne Dingler, Timothy Walter Dingler, John Davis Burgess, Jr., 
James Wayne Davis, Wallace Vann Davis, Jr., Stan Casey Davis, Ted Andrew 
Henson, Jay Vann Davis, Jason Scott Lewis and James Clayton Hooper. The Gammage 
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. (Cedartown Standard, Cedartown,
