Elbert Lee Stephens, 73, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997. Mr. Stephens was 
born April 23, 1924 in Cullman, Ala. He was a member of Pine Bower Baptist 
Church. Survivors include; wife, Ruth Virginia Stephens of Cedartown; three 
sons, Donnie Stephens of Cedartown, Douglas Stephens of Moody Ala., and Gary 
Stephens of Adairsville; two daughters, Virginia Stephens Hooper of Cedartown 
and Sara Stephens Robinson of Powder Springs; brother, Thelbert Bailey of 
Fayetteville; six sisters, Zella Mae Brannon, Lovella Grimes, Mildred Wells and 
Evelyn Forrister, all of Cedartown, Tilba Payne of Jacksonville, Ala., and 
Atzell Blankenship of Hiram; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m., in the Pine Bower 
Baptist Church, with Dr. Charles Garner, Rev. Jerry Meeks and Rev. Alan Grimes 
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers 
were: Winfred Brannon, Mike Brannon, Don Wolfe, Dennis Grimes, Ricky Cochran 
and Joey Payne. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home had charge of the 
arrangements.
