The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, January 1998
Mrs. Vera Hooper Bowen, age 92 of Dallas, GA. passed away Monday, December 29, 
1997 in the Paulding County Nursing Home. Mrs. Bowen was born January 12, 1905, 
in Coweta County. She was a former Goodyear employee, homemaker, and a member 
of Beulahland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard 
Hill Bowen and parents, James C. and Elmira Pendergrass Hooper. Survivors 
include her son Bobby Bowen, Dallas; brother, Gilbert M. Hooper, Rome, one 
grandson, two great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. The funeral 
service was held Thursday, January 1, 1998 at 2 p.m., from the Freeman Harris 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. T. Hollingshed officiating. Interment 
followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Hooper, Roy Bradley, 
Loyd Locklear, Steve Goldin, Ricky Bradley, and Harvey Hooper. Honorary 
pallbearer was Ed Cole. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the 
arrangements.
