Stephens wend@bellsouth.net July 8, 2004, 3:25 pm Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., Thursday, September 5, 1918 Wilbur Sewell, son of Rev. John Sewell, formerly of this county but now of Eatonton, was killed in action in France. The many old friends of the family in Polk sincerely sympathize with them in the death of this brilliant young man. He was born at the home of his uncle, Mr. E. O. Godwin, and was educated at Emory College. When war was declared he gave up the superintendence of the public schools at Tennille to enlist, becoming Chaplain of the Regiment. A noble young man, his life was freely offered as a sacrifice in the cause of freedom.
