Stephens wend@bellsouth.net July 11, 2004, 5:00 pm The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, Ga., Thursday, February 24, 1938 Thomas Whitney Smith, 72, prominent Polk county farmer residing in the Fish Creek section, were held from New Prospect church at 11 a.m. Monday, February 21st. Rev. E.L. Head, Rockmart, officiated with interment in the church cemetery. Bisaner’s Funeral Home was in charge. Mr. Smith’s death occurred at his home on the preceding Saturday after an extended illness. He had made his home at Fish Creek for many years and was a widely prominent and successful farmer. He leaves a wide circle of friends and relatives to mourn his passing. Mr. Smith is survived by his widow and four daughters, Miss Corrie Smith, Rome; Mrs. Katie Garrett, Cedartown; Mrs. Ira Logan, Magnolia, Miss.; and Mrs. Rena Garrett, Rockmart, and by two sons, Newton Smith, Atlanta, and Demetries Sith, Rockmart.
