Ruth Rowlls Pettett, 87, of Lyerly, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27. She was born 
April 3, 1916, in Cherokee County, Ala. and was a member of the Sardis Baptist 
Church. Mrs. Pettett was retired from Riegel Textile Corp. and was a member of 
the Quarter Century Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry W. 
Pettett and grandson, Timothy Evans. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-
law, Frances Daniel and Bobby Alvin Evans, of Lyerly; grandchildren, Cindy and 
David Hayes, of Trion, Annette and Nick Hernandez, Cedartown, and Tammy and 
George Maness, Bradenton, Fla. Several great-grandchildren, great-great-
grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services were 
held Saturday, Nov. 29, at 3:30 p.m. from the Greenhill Memory Gardens, with 
Rev. Herby Cook officiating. Interment followed in the Greenhill Memory 
Gardens. Mason Funeral Home of Summerville was in charge of the funeral
