Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net February 2, 2007, 11:50 am The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, November 13, 2003 L.B. “Papa” Pruett, 90, of 1783 Sprout Springs Rd., Cave Spring, passed away Nov. 7, 2003. He was born in Alexis, Ala., and worked for the Republic Steel Corp. He was previously active in North Gadsden Baptist Church, serving as Brotherhood President and Usher. His musical talents included mandolin, banjo, guitar, and bass guitar, which he played in the gospel group, “The Chimes.” Mr. Pruett was preceded in death by: wife, Margaret Elysabeth Morrison Pruett; son, Edward Rodger Pruett; and brother, Russel Pruett. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Melita and Gary Ashworth and three sisters and a brother-in- law, Hazel Woodall and Virginia James of Gadsden, Ala. and Faye and Alfred Johnson of Sardis, Ala. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m. from the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. David Ingram and Rev. Robert Pyles officiating. Interment followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery, Cave Spring. The Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home, Rome, was in charge of the arrangements.
