Charles C. Roberts, Sr., 79, of 127 Teat St. Lindale, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 
at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Alabama on April 
27, 1924, a son of the late Leonard W. Roberts and Johnnie Ladell Smith 
Roberts. He has been a resident of Floyd County most of his life where he 
attended the Silver Creek United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. 
Navy serving in World War II; was a former musician and comedian with the Happy 
Lumpkin Family; and was a retired painter and contractor. He was preceded in 
death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, 
Ethel “Tincie” Hovers Roberts of Lindale, to whom he was married on May 29, 
1948; daughter, Kathy Mullinax of Cedartown; son, Charles C. “Pinky” Roberts, 
Jr. of Lindale; brother, Franklin “Sonny” Roberts of Summerville; sisters, 
Becky Echois of Marietta and Ruth Carroll of Rome; five grandchildren and six 
great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 30 
at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Lee 
Smollar and Rev. Harlin Thomas officiating. Interment followed in the Bellview 
Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown–Wright Post #12 of the American Legion in 
charge of military graveside rites. Active pallbearers included: Larry Smith, 
Pinky Roberts, Chad Knowles, Jimmy Knowles, Manuel Pegg and Danny Kelly. James 
Hovers served as honorary pallbearer. The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home had
