Sanders of Extendicare and Rehabilitation Center of Dothan, Ala., passed away Oct. 3, 2003. She was a longtime resident of Cedartown, having lived on Martha Lane. Mrs. Sanders was born in Hacoda, Ala. on Oct. 8, 1902 to Roland M. Brown and Willie Harris Brown. At age four, she received a burn so severe that her funeral was planned. She attended Bessie Tiff College and taught at Poplar Springs School where she later served as principal. She was married to Theodore R. Sanders on June 23, 1930. She was also active in First Baptist Church in Sunday School and WMU. She was active in the Cradle Roll, where she enrolled many of the new babies of Cedartown into First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hoyt, Cecil, Roy, and Mercer Brown; sister, Faith Yanskey; and husband, Theodore R. Sanders. Survivors include brother, W.W. Brown; son, Cecil M. Sanders; three grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Oct. 4 at 12 noon at Gammage Funeral Home. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
