Hugh Golden Shaw, 74, of 366 Cantrell Loop, Cedartown, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003 after an extended illness. He was born July 14, 1928 in Polk County. He was a minister for 48 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Elizabeth Wilson and James Eli Shaw. Survivors include his wife, Serena Mae Dingler Shaw; daughters, Deborah Shaw Lankford, Pat Shaw Phillips, and Melinda Shaw Swafford; son, Michael Shaw; brothers, James Shaw and Charles Shaw, both of Cedartown; sisters, Irene Green, Estelle Henderson and Grace Blake, all of Cedartown, and Sara White of Silver Creek; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 11, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Stevie Waddell, Rev. Moses Wilson and Dr. David Taylor officiating. The interment followed in Rockmart Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Lankford, Dennis Phillips, Jason Stewart, Brandon Phillips, Steve Swafford, Phillip Swafford. Honorary pallbearers were Br. Billy Chacko and staff. The Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
