Simpson, 80, of 20 Stewart Rd, Cedartown, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at his residence. A native of Floyd County, Mr. Simpson was born Sept. 19, 1922. He was a veteran of World War II and attended East View Baptist Church when he was able. He was retired from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing after 35 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. After retirement, he owned and operated Simpson Apple and Peach Orchard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall M. and Letty Jackson Simpson. Survivors include his wife, the former Mildred Davis; son, Jerry Neal Simpson of Rockmart; brother, Gene Simpson of Summerville; 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 06, 2003 at 3 p.m. from the graveside at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Rev. Larry Ritch officiated. Pallbearers were Larry Ritch, Jr., Harwell Free, Earl Simpson, Mike Simpson and Jerry Brownlow. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
