Mrs. Annie Ruth Smith, 65, of Rt. 2, Rockmart, passed away at the home of a son 
Clyde Smith, Friday morning after an extended illness.  Mrs. Smith was born 
Oct. 1, 1902 in Cleburne County, Ala., and had lived in Polk County for the 
past two months.  She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.  Survivors 
include: two daughters, Mrs. Doris Snead of Rome and Mrs. Evelyn Duncan of 
Atlanta; two sons, Clyde Smith of Rockmart and James Smith of Bellview, III.; 
two brothers, Verdell Butler and Cecil Butler, both of Rome; nine grandchildren 
and three great-grand-children also survive.  Funeral services were held at 2 
P.M. Sunday from the Bethel Baptist Church in Forney, Ala., with the Rev. Elgin 
Williams of Rome officiating.  Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery.  The Olin 
Gammage and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  (The Cedartown
