Rockmart Journal,  June 20, 2006
Mrs. Julaine Fresen Smith, 215 Howard St., Rockmart, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 
in a Rome Medical Center following months of declining health. Mrs. Smith was 
born May 16, 1925 in Collinsville, Illinois, daughter of the late Garrett 
Fresen and Ann Bernhardt Fresen. She had been a resident of Rockmart since 1954 
and was a member of the Rockmart Presbyterian Church. For many years, she was 
involved as a community volunteer. Surviving are husband, Dr. Charles M. Smith 
of Rockmart to whom she was married on October 3, 1946; children, Mrs. Pinkie 
Owens of Rockmart; Dr. Charles M. Smith, III of Dalton; Mr. Michael Smith of 
Rockmart; and Mrs. Ann Garrett of Aragon; 9 grandchildren; 9 great 
grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in the 
Rockmart Presbyterian Church with Dr. Roger Martin officiating. Interment was 
held in Rose Hill Cemetery. Grandsons serving as pallbearers included Jeff 
Adair, Chris Adair, Drew Smith, Hunter Smith, Joshua Smith and Griffin Garrett. 
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. (The Rockmart
