She was born in Haralson County and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Cedartown. She had retired from the Banning Mill after working as a winder. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by: parents, Robert and Ida Jackson Truett; husband, Thomas Jefferson Carden; daughters, Mary Katherleen Carden Bolden, Jewell Carden Miller and Louise Carden; and son, Franklin Carden. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Earwood of Cedartown and Flora Mae Carden of Atlanta and her sons, Thomas Jefferson Carden Jr. of Villa Rica and Barry Carden of Auburn, Ga. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with the Rev. Raymond Cook and Rev. Billy Swift officiating. Interment followed in the Little Vine Cemetery in Villa Rica with Rev. John Hooper officiating. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica was in charge of the arrangements.
