Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net January 1, 2007, 5:44 pm Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA., July 02, 2003 Margaret Parker Sorrells, 79, of East Forrest Ave., East Point, and formerly of Rockmart passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003 in an Atlanta hospital due to injuries sustained in a church van accident on Dec. 20, 2002. She was born Dec. 31, 1923 in Porterdale, Ga., and was a graduate of Rockmart High School, class of 1942. She was chosen as Miss Rockmart High School that year. She was a member of the East Point Christian Church and, prior to retirement, was an employee with the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. She served as the treasurer for the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Howell Parker and Bernice Loyd Parker. Survivors include sons, Paul Sorrells, Jr. of Tucker and David Sorrells of East Point. Formerly, she was married to Paul Sorrells, Sr. of Hiawassee and both were long – time residents of Rockmart. Graveside services were conducted Saturday, June 28 at 3 p.m. in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Paul Cleveland officiating. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Rockmart, 311 Elm Street, Rockmart, Ga. 30153. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
