Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net January 25, 2007, 10:16 am The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, February 13, 2003 Lewis Edward Stitt, 63, of 290 Riviera Dr, Carrollton, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Troup County on May 12, 1939. His father worked on the Hill’s and Dale’s Plantation in LaGrange and, as a young teenager, he worked as a cowboy on the Callaway Cattle Plantation. His family moved to Cedartown in 1955 where he attended high school and played football for Coach “Doc” Ayers. After high school, he moved to Atlanta and worked as a big rig truck driver for various trucking companies including Bowman, REA Trucking and Bennett Trucking. He retired from CKS Packaging. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoke Smith Stitt and Eunice Harris Stitt. Survivors include sons, Dean Stitt of Atlanta, Rodney Stitt of Austell, Dale Stitt of Buchanan, Shane Stitt of Carrollton, Shawn Reger; daughter, Dana Jameson of Cartersville; brother, Jack Stitt of Mableton. Memorial services were conduced Saturday, February 8 at 1:30 p.m. from the Chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home. Rev. Colin Deal officiated, and Kathy Roberts provided music. In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, the body was cremated. Memorial donations may be made to Tanner Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1136, Carrollton, GA 30117, or to the American Cancer Society. The J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home of Villa Rica was in charge of the arrangements. Mary Louise Dean, 69, of 401 Knight Rd., Rockmart passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2003. She was born Feb. 8, 1933 in DeKalb County and was a member of the Collard Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Dean of Rockmart; sons, Amorous Dean of Rockmart and Lamar Dean of Temple; daughter, Karen Lynn Garrett of Rockmart; brother, Marion Stone of Winder; sister, Kathy Tyson of Ellijay; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 9 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Lester Litesey Funeral Home. Rev. Billy Chambers officiated. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Am Dean, John Tyson, Steve Dean, Harold Garrett, Heath Formby and George Dean. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
