Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net January 25, 2007, 12:32 pm The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, May 21, 2003 Essie Shepherd Tate, 91, of 227 Carlton Dr. passed away Sunday, May 18, 2003. She was born August 14, 1911 in Paulding County and was a long-time member of the Piedmont Baptist Church, where she taught the Ladies Bible Class for many years. Prior to retirement, she was a nurse at the Rockmart – Aragon Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Tate; her parents, Robert Lee and Laura C. Shepherd; sisters, Nellie Gentry and Lois Willbanks; brothers, Claude Shepherd and Glenn Shepherd. Survivors include daughter Janet Waters of Rockmart; sons, C.L. Tate of Silver Creek and Don Tate of Rockmart; brother, Horace Shepherd of Rockmart; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Cook officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Simon, III, Norman Worthington, Steve Evans, Eric Waters, Mark Tate and Jay Chesser. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
