Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net February 2, 2007, 10:57 am The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, October 02, 2003 John Joseph “Joe” Vance, Sr., 77, of 417 Chestnut St., Cedartown, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003. He was born Feb. 20, 1926 in Polk County and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He also served as a deacon and member of the building committee. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in both World War II and Korea. He was a real estate broker by profession. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. Vance Sr. and Mildred Thornton Vance; brothers, Charles J. Vance Jr. and Thornton Vance; sisters, Mary Lois Darden and Mildred Frew. survivors include wife, Ann McKay Vance; sons, Brad Vance and John Joe Vance Jr.; daughter, Mary-Cile Vance; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Grove officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Brewster- Cleveland Post 86. Nephews served as pallbearers. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
