January 19, 2007, 9:58 am The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, January 20, 2003 Charles Thomas Ward, 81, of 288 Mountain Home Rd., passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2003. He was born Nov. 24, 1921 in Virginia. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army, received the Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart, received the European African Middle Eastern Medal and was shot at Normandy Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Franklin Ward and Lillie Esther Ward, and brothers Bill and Joe Ward. Survivors include: son, Charles William Ward; sisters, Nellie Ward Smith, Louise W. Coleman and June Ward Brannon; and brothers, Doyle E. Ward, Donald Lee Ward and Robert Olin “Bobby” Ward. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. R. B. Hulsey officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland Post #86. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
