Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, August 06, 2003
Sylvia Earnestine West, 90, of 444 Wimberly Hill Rd., Cedartown, passed away 
Monday, August 4, 2003. She was born August 12, 1912, in Summerset, Ky., 
daughter of the late Ira Turpin and Nora Trimble Turpin. She had been a 
resident of Polk County since moving here from Kentucky. She was a Jehovah’s 
Witness and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William 
Thomas West, and two sons, Thomas Gerald West and Steven Theodore West. 
Survivors include daughters, Joann Mumper, Earnestine “Tina” Dobbs, Molly 
Chambers, and Sherry West; sons, William, Terry, and Duane West; 26 
grandchildren, and a number of great- and great great-grandchildren. Funeral 
services were held Wednesday, August 6, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis 
Miller & Son Funeral Home with Roger Hiltbrand delivering the discourse. 
Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens. Grandsons served as pallbearers. 
Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. (The
