Stephens stephens2247@bellsouth.net February 2, 2007, 11:04 am The Cedartown Standard, Cedartown, GA, October 14, 2003 Hugh Don Williams, 63, of 3750 Rome Hwy, Aragon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003. He was born December 6, 1939 in Polk County, son of the late Ethel Jones Williams and the late Horace C. Williams. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, class of 1962. Mr. Williams was a Charter Member of the Victory Church where he served as the first deacon and currently served on the deacon board. He has been the teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class for the past 24 years. He owned and operated the Polk County Garden Center in Cedartown for many years then was employed with the Komoto Tech Company also in Cedartown until his retirement. Following retirement, he continued to stay busy by working with his son David for several years at Williams & Associates of Rockmart. Mr. Williams was presently serving his fifth term on the Polk County Board of Commissioners. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Linda Pinkard Williams to whom he was married May 30, 1964; daughters, Christi Gober and her husband, Greg of Rockmart, Kim Williams of Aragon; son, David Williams and his wife, Deanna of Rockmart; sisters, Ann Wright of Dalton and Linda M. Williams of Rockmart; brothers, Paul Williams of Starkville and Ray Williams of Gibson; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Friday, October 10 at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Victory Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Paris, Rev. Raymond Cook, and Rev. Ryan Smith officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of Bellview Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Scott Akins, Todd Akins, Kevin Wright, Bucky Wright, Daniel Head, and Michael Gravett. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of the Victory Baptist Church and the Polk County Board of Commissioners. Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
