Manning as his Security. It is further ordered that Tully Williams Robert S. Anderson William W. Mayo Henry Anderson and John Colson are hereby appointed appraisers to appraise said Estate. ***** Georgia, Pulaski County Know all men by these presents, that we Arthur Newmans and Seaborn M. Manning as security are held and firmly bound unto the Ordinary for said County, and his successors in office, and assigns, in the just and full sum of Eight thousand Dollars for the payment of which sum to the said Ordinary, and his successors in office, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, in the whole and for the whole sum, jointly and severally, and firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this Seventh day March 1853- The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That if the above bound Arthur Newman Administrator of John Newman do make a true and perfect Inventory of the goods, chattels, rights, credits, lands and tenements of the said John Newmans late of Pulaski County, deceased, which have or shall come into the hands, possession or knowledge of the said Arthur Newmans - or the hands or possession of any person or persons for him and the same, so made, do exhibit unto the said Ordinary, when he shall be thereunto required; and such goods, chattels, credits, lands and tenements do well and truly administer according to law, and do make a just and true account of his actings and doings therein, when he shall thereunto be required by the Court: Shall deliver and pay to such person or persons respectively, as they may be entitled to the same by law: And if it shall hereafter appear that any last Will and testament was made by the deceased, and the same be proven before the Court of Ordinary, and the Executor obtain a certificate of the probate thereof, and the said Arthur Newman in such case, if required, render and deliver up the said Letters of Administration, then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force. Day 1855 In Book (M) Thos S Taylor (Ordinary) Additional Comments: John Newman was born in Duplin County, North Carolina, ca 1775, the son of Edward and Sarah Newman. Edward died in the Revolutionary War; his widow in children remained in Duplin in an area that eventually became Sampson County. John sold his land in Sampson to his older brother, William, in October 1827 and was living in Pulaski County, GA, by the 1830 census. He was married to Nancy Brown, daughter of Arthur Brown and Lucy Butler. John and Nancy's known children were Edward, b. ca 1814 Sampson Co., NC, d. Nov 1879 in Pulaski; Arthur Newman, b. 10 Jun 1816 Sampson Co., NC, d. 6 Mar 1888 in Pulaski; and Sarah Newman, b. ca 1819 Sampson Co., NC, died between Nov 1887 and Mar 1888 in Pulaski.
